A girlfriend of mine had attended a pole dancing class at a local pilates studio and told me that not only was it a total blast, but she got a GREAT workout from it as well. Curious, I explored their website only to find out they were doing free trials this week. You want me to try a free “fitness craze” for FREE? Where do I sign up?!
My sister (who I knew if I called and just said “Wanna take a free pole dancing class with me?” would never say no) and I went to the class on Tuesday night. We had a BLAST. Not only that, but my arms, chest and back were sore for days. It was one of the all time best upper body workouts I have ever gotten, and I felt completely sexy doing it! I was a little skeptical going into it that it would be too “stripperish” but it was just the opposite of that. The instructor was an ex ballet dancer from NYC, who taught numerous dance and pilates classes. We didn’t start off by learning how to “unbotton” (lol) but rather, by learning the importance of building core and upper body strength. We did pulsing pushups, stretches, and various crunches before even touching the pole.
I signed up for a membership and will be going weekly now!
If you can find a studio that offers this in your area, I highly recommend checking it out!

Anyone try out any new or different ways to have fun while getting in shape?

That sounds fun
Pole dancers are def. in shape. Are you gonna get a pole installed in your house?? lol so you can practice!
That sounds like fun! I’m a horrible dancer though so I tend to stay away from any classes that involve dancing. I would not look sexy on that pole! I just started rollerblading though, which is my current fun workout
LOVE THIS POST! I have always been super curious about these classes, so I’m so glad to read of your experience!
I’ve seriously always wanted to try this! Glad to hear it’s not “stripperish” though!
I’ve heard of classes like these, but I’m so horribly uncoordinated that I don’t think it would end well, haha! Hope you have a great Tuesday!
This sounds amazing! A place like this just opened up in my town, and I’ve been thinking about giving it a whirl.
