Picture me driving to work this morning in my little red 5-speed convertible (it’s a 2000 VW, not as glam as I make it seem lol). I get to a red light at the top of a hill, and as the light turns green, my car stalls. I promptly go to re-start but before I even get the chance the guy behind me is asking if I need help laying on the horn. I finally get the car to start and it slowly starts to move, but barely. The nice man prick behind me is now waving his arms like a mad man and screaming so loud from his car that I can hear him. This is after I have waved him to go and put my hazards on, mind you. As my car puts its way up the hill, he pulls up next to me and starts screaming as loud as he can, basically yelling “what are you doing” and using a lot of language I will not even try to repeat. My car stalled. I am obviously not texting or chatting on the phone. Thanks for asking if I needed help. So he screams his lungs off, I flip him off, he cuts me off, and at this point my car is actually moving normally. He immediately pulled into McDonalds. Clearly, there was an emergency and he was in a rush. Excuse me for existing.
I seem to encounter road rage more and more in CT lately, and I really don’t think I can handle much more of it. I would have loved to follow him into that parking lot and confront him, but I was already running late to work and was a little afraid to be honest; you have to be pretty pyscho to react like that to someone clearly having car problems.
So today obviously got off to a great start. How often do you encounter road rage?

omg I just experienced crazy road rage at the Walmart parking lot. I was an on-looker, mini van + toyota 4 runner type thing were parked. Fully stopped. Yelling obsenties at one another.
The 4runner leaves slowly and calmy. The van lady leaps into her van & belines it for the stop sign that the 4-runner woman is at almost plowing right into her. I’m talking breaks slamming type of stop. So the 4-runner doesn’t move lol.. I thought she was going to get out of the car.
All this time I didn’t realize my jaw was open. (I think I heard someone comment after the fact – as they saw me just… stare in awe)
The 4-runner then moves. Takes a left to get to the lights and at the lights she’s in the right hand lane to make a turn. it’s her go. The van follows her screaching her tires once again and tries to pass her as in, cutting the 4-runner off in the wrong lane!! It was INSANE.
I just stood there!! Omg.
Oh girl Im sorry you had to deal with that bullcrap! What ajerk he is! I cant believe there are people that are that rude, but there are!
Oh in DC, I experienced Road Rage ALOT, it was bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont miss it there at all!!!!! lol!
love u!

I experience road rage practically every day here in the grand old capital of “Snow Birds”.
50% of the time I’m the one getting beeped at/yelled at because I try not to tailgate & will only go 5mph over the speed limit.
The other 50% is a different story…because I’m occasionally I’m the one “raging”. (I know, big thumbs down to me.) But I always keep my windows UP, don’t EVER point fingers or motion towards the other car, and NEVER slam on the brakes. It’s more of a mental/within the confines of my own 4 doors that I rage – lots of swearing to my non-existent passengers, and saying “what are you DOING?!?!” as I pass the little old man going 25 mph on a highway with a 55 speed limit, or the out-of-towners making a left turn from the right hand lane. I’m in the insurance industry though, and know that if I freak out too much or drive like a maniac to let out my frustrations I’d probably cause an accident – and yelling obscenities out the window may very well get me shot or stabbed…. So I guess that makes me a passive-aggressive road rager?

Daily in Atlanta. It’s one of the main reasons I don’t like living here.
I was sitting in the passenger seat of a parked car in a parking lot at a grocery store. My boyfriend at the time was inside. I swatted at a moth that came in through the moon roof, then noticed that the guy parked in front of me was just sitting at the steering wheel staring at me. He had an elderly man in the passenger seat. Those are the only two things I notice, then look out the window. I hear a horn, look up, and the guy has backed out of his space & is parallel to it, sticks out his arm, flips me off, yells “BITCH” and drives off. I did confront him, and he went PSYCHO. I simply was trying to tell him he obviously mistook me for someone else and he was in my face, calling me an insecure bitch and saying “how dare you act like in front of my elderly father!” Then he got back in his car and parked it at the end of the lot. He tried to follow us home, and we had to call the cops. He told the cops I hit his car, while driving mine. I wasn’t driving. I was sitting. Then he told the cops I was high. The cops figured he was mentally ill, but said they can’t arrest people for being crazy. Too bad, because he obviously needed help. It was super weird to me at first, but since I’ve lived here longer, it’s just par for the course.
OH my gosh girl I am soo sorry! THAT IS SO FRUSTRATING! what the heck!! What a way to start off your day! I hope our day got much better <3
Rhode Island is ranked pretty high for worst drivers in the nation. I encounter them often. The worst is when someone is driving slow on the highway, so I move into the passing lane. That lane is there for that reason. Of course, as soon as I try to pass, the person inevitably speeds up and will not allow it. I don’t get it. We’re not in competition. Passing is allowed on the highway…no need to be defensive!
Sorry your day got off to such a rough start. Obviously there were some hotcakes and sausage with that guy’s name on ‘em. What a jerk!

Every day my friend…every stinkin’ day! That’s what happens when you do in-home personal training, on the road all day…it’s the pits!
I hope your car is going to be OK
You were smart not to confront him…that would be my instinct too…to give him a piece of my mind and say “WHAT THE BLEEP IS YOUR PROBLEM< ARE YOU SERIOUS!!??" but…there are a lot of psychos out there! My hubby tells me that's how "I'm going to go" –getting in a road rage fight with someone that's going to off me.

Haha! Yeah since when do people get angry first and don’t think to try to help instead? And what was going on ad Mickey D’s that he needed to get there so quickly?

One major benefit to the passive agressive attitude here in Seattle is that there is minimal road rage. We mostly practice really dirty looks.

What a jerk! Pulling into McDonald’s just puts the icing on the cake! I hate road rage. It’s even worse when you’re in the car with someone who has it!
Eww, that sucks that that guy was such an asshole. I think the best way to look at is that he obviously can’t have a very great life if something so small can set him off so rather then take offense just take sympathy on him. Don’t let such ignorance ruin your day!

Quite often actually. And I live in Manhattan so I don’t drive during the week. I also get walking road rage, which is worse bc you don’t have the confines of your automobile to protect you and give you time to think before you act out LOL! Sorry you had a rough start. Things can only look up.

So I am not going to lie, I get some road rage now and then, but i try not to actually act on it! I barely even use my horn!!! Just recently, some guy got SOO mad at me for not going right on red, when there was specifically a sign not to!, HE ACTUALLY WENT UP ON THE GRASS AROUND ME! and flipped me off and yelled profanity out of the window. I could not believe it! Maybe he needed a run to release some tension!!
Pretty much this exact same thing has happened to me…which is why I hate driving stick cars!! I’ll admit, I’m a pretty impatient driver myself, but it’s a different story when you can tell the person is having car troubles!

Wow, they must be filtering down from MA into CT. Being from MA, I pretty much experience road rage on a daily basis. MA has the worst drivers in the country (as I’m sure you know!) so I’m pretty used to it. Sorry you had to deal with such a jackass though!

It can be so scary! I’ve tried to let people know that I think they are being out of line with their road rage and it’s never worth it. Once, a guy actually pulled in front of me on the freeway and slammed on his brakes to almost cause me to get into an accident. It was crazy! I try to not let the ragers get to me anymore and just keep my distance.
Sorry you had to go through that.
