FDA vs USDA: What you need to know!

by Jennifer on September 25, 2010

Wow. I knew our food safety system was terribly flawed, but this is horrible! A must-watch. I never put much though into the difference between USDA inspection and FDA inspection, but now it will be something I pay close attention to while shopping.

Click here for the full CBS story.
USDA: Meat and some poultry (inspections daily)
FDA: Everything else (inspections every 5 years)

Do you pay attention to food safety in regards to USDA vs. FDA? If not, after reading this are you? I know I am!! I would love to hear your thoughts!

Uhg – it’s so ridiculous. …people worry more about where their clothing comes from and those conditions than they do the conditions of our food. It definitely makes me think twice about the food I’m buying!

Gross! You should read the Omnivore’s Dilemma. It really touches base on this and kinda makes you sick!

In recent years, I’ve come to learn the importance of self-teaching, especially when it comes to food and nutrition! It’s really hard to take anything the gov says seriously in terms of food.
