Garden Dip

by Jennifer on September 23, 2010

I don’t know about you guys, but our garden here is still pumping out some delicious stuff.
cherry tomato
fresh basil
With the surplus of basil and cherry tomatoes, I thought it was about time to make something other than pasta sauce. Avoidance of homework (oops!) and an empty house had me rummaging the cabinets to create the perfect ingredient list.

(omg, can we take a minute to swoon over my new camera through all of this too!?!)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • Handful of fresh basil (approx half cup)
  • handful of fresh cherry tomatoes (approx half cup)
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower kernels
  • Ground black pepper to taste (approx 1/4 teaspoon)
  • Splash of lime juice

Directions
Put all items in food processor and blend until creamy with small pieces of basil and tomato left!
Serve with veggies, pretzels, pita chips, or crackers!

Have you made or tried any good dips lately? What are your favorite things to do with your garden goodies?

I’ve made some dips before, but more of things like guacamole or hummus… but i’ve never made one like this before! Thanks for the information… i really love making things from scratch and a dip would be a great way to get some fresh veggies in.

Dips are a dangerous thing for me. I LOVE them and will eat it until I feel sick.

Mmm this looks soo good! I love the traditional dill veggie dip but anything with basil is always tasty.

How lovely! I wish I had a garden. City life doesn’t much allow :( Enjoy!
