Healthy snacks on-the-go
by Jennifer on November 18, 2010
Since most of my close friends live quite the commute away I have found that one of my biggest areas of food-struggle takes place in the car, where I find myself speaking with more drive-thru people than my body would like me to. After doing some serious googling and pantry raiding, I have put together this list of healthy snacks that are easy to grab and take with you on the go!
- String cheese
- Terra chips
- Whole grain crackers
- Fresh fruit
- Trail mix
- Granola
- Baby carrots
- Celery sticks (yuck, I hate celery)
- Pita chips and hummus
- Snack-sized sandwiches
What are your favorite healthy on-the-go snacks?

Yum, great list now I want to go for a car ride. I really like bite sized chicken (I marinate & broil) & boiled eggs (I know they are smelly) too.

Bananas work really well… survive being tossed in a purse. But any kind of bars… Larabars, Lunabars, and Clif bars tolerate the purse or tote bag best.

I keep “Car Snacks” in my car for emergencies or after the gym. It’s little baggies of pretzels, raisin bran cereal, crackers, or protein bars.

If you hate celery, try smothering it in PB and putting raisins/craisins on top. My mom used to make me that all the time when I was little
So good!

Ahh…I love dreaming up on-the-go snack ideas!
My fav’s include:
1. Soaking almonds overnight, rinse and drain the following morning, and add a few slices of apple to keep them moist through the day until you eat them…soaked almonds are amazing and are far more digestible-have you tried?!
2. Cinnamon flavored brown rice cakes (or use original rice cakes and add your own cinnamon later) with almond butter
3. Edamame! (I have a few posts on the wonder bean…check em’ out if you like!)
Great blog! I’m enjoying following along.

My favorite healthy snacks on the go are granola bars, either pure bars or Larabars or sometimes even some carrots and hummus.

I love bringing apples or protein bars and I always carry a water bobble so I can have filtered water anywhere! When I’m really starving, I find that eating a protein bar and downing a big bottle of water will keep hunger at bay for a few hours.
Here my post about water bobble
