*On a side note, I have no idea why I make such weird expressions when I am filming. I think it must be the stage fright (it takes me MULTIPLE times to shoot videos I get so nervous and tongue-tied). Also, upon re-watching I realized that step 8 says “wash your hair after you condition” when really I meant wash your BODY after you condition. Oops! ![]()

Thanks for these tips. I find that if I don’t shower immediately after working out I do breakout. I think washing your workout clothes regularly is another big factor in preventing breakouts.

Definitely am a firm believer in showering right after the workout. Even if it’s just a quick rinse off…

Seems that all the things I do daily and out of routine is a good thing then
I always make sure to bath/shower after exercising. Can’t see how people do not do that after exercising immediately.

Don’t wear make-up when you run, but what about the photos for my blog? What’s a shower?

SO true! I used to run at lunchtime and I ALWAYS showered afterward. I have a problem with acne to begin with and sitting in sweat makes it worse.

Been waiting for a post like this for a long time! I have never had breakouts, even as a teenager. Then, I started working out more and sweating more (upping intensity!) and my chest and my face have been breaking out like crazy. I never thought to wipe off my makeup before…such a great idea! Thanks for the tips!
Glad to see this post, I just had this question yesterday because like Maria I’ve never had a problem with breakouts before. I’m doing everything Jennifer recommends, but like Maria I am not removing my makeup BEFORE I work out. I’m going to try this going forward and see if it solves my problem.
you’ve got great skin! so if it works for you, i guess i should try it!
my trouble is, i’m coming straight to the gym from work. i alwyas have makeup on while i work out! i guess i need to start bringing facial wipes or something!
xo.

I sweat too much not to take a shower as soon as I get home.
It’s harder when the class is a little out of the way, and the first stop isn’t home though. Thankfully I don’t have major breakout issues. *phew*

Great post-I find that when I work out at night (after a day of makeup) I may break out but never when I have my morning workout (clean fresh face).
Love the video!!!

Aww, what a great post Jennifer! I love your video, too. I completely agree with ALL of these tips. I always hop right in the shower after I’m done working out. I used to break out a lot after working out, but I started using a buff puff in the shower and it almost aerates the skin and allows it to breathe while you’re washing it, getting all of the dirt and oil out. Lovely post as always!!
PS – I’m coming back to school in January! Will I see you?

Cute outfit!!! I think the hardest one of those for me to follow would be avoiding the ‘roids… I do love injecting myself with steroids

I have issues on break outs after working out and I have gotten into the habit of washing my face or showering right after my workout and it has helped! However, now I am trying to fit in running on my lunch breaks, I don’t have time for a shower. So I bring moist towletts to wash my face and then I re apply my make up. I am hoping it works for me!!

Great tips! I try not to workout with makeup on, but if I’m going to the gym right after work it happens. I just try to shower right after the gym and I usually am ok.
