Hollandaise Sauce Recipe (& ideas to use it!)

by Jennifer on January 9, 2011

You may have heard horror stories about making Hollandaise Sauce using the traditional stove top and double boiler method. Fear no more! This easy, blender edition will leave you with the same great taste sans all of that effort.

Easy Hollandaise Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Pinch of salt

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients except the butter into the blender and blend for a few seconds.
  • Using the microwave, heat the butter until melted.
  • Turn the blender on high and in a thin stream, pour the butter into the blending mixture. This should make it thicken immediately.
  • Health risk! Do not keep hollandaise sauce warm for more then 1.5 to 2 hours.

Ways to use it:

  • Pour over (or use as a dip) veggies!
  • For topping Eggs Benedict.
  • Mix into a green bean dish.
  • Add flavor to a casserole.

Hollandaise Sauce is a great way to get kids or people that don’t like vegetables, to eat their veggies! Have you ever made or eaten Hollandaise Sauce?

I’ve never eaten Hollandaise sauce before. I’ve never tried eggs benedict because I didn’t know what was in the sauce. This looks delicious.

I actually don’t like hollandaise sauce. I’m not sure why, it’s just never tasted good to me? Still love me?!

Oh! And sorry about emailing you earlier – I’m totally retarded lol

My hollandaise sauce always ends up tasting like butter. :( Not that butter isn’t delicious, but it wasn’t exactly what I was going for. I’ll have to give yours a shot.

I LOVE hollandaise sauce, but always thought it was something that I could only eat at restaurants, since I had not idea how the make the sauce! I can’t wait to try this – I think it might call for a “breakfast for dinner” night this week!
