You can make your own natural moisturizer from various natural sources, but it is easier to buy a scented base cream and add essential oils to it. Aromatic base creams are specially formulated to absorb essential oils without being released.
The cream base moisturizer is made of rose and aloe vera with a little added vitamin E. The great thing about a base cream is that you can use it a little and then replace the essential oil you use.
You can also add essential oils to your own cream. Mix a few drops into the cream with a toothpick. For a good moisturizing treatment with the added properties of healing and preventing wrinkles, use the following recipe:
1-ounce aromatic cream base
20 drops Roman chamomile
5 drops sandalwood
Mix well and transfer to a clean glass container. It can be used as a night cream by applying a small amount of cream to your face.
There are basically two types of moisturizers. Heavier moisturizers (higher oil-to-water ratio) act as a barrier to block moisture for extended periods of time, such as at night.
The second, lighter type of moisturizer (lower oil-to-water ratio) allows the skin to breathe but draws moisture into the skin to prevent dehydration. This moisturizer is ideal for daytime and can be used under makeup.
